What is Alpha Dawg Flag Football?
Alpha Dawg is a Browns FLAG organization partnered with the Cleveland Browns and NFL FLAG.
What is the partnership with the Cleveland Browns and NFL FLAG?
Our partnership with The Cleveland Browns and NFL FLAG, gives us access to goodies and resources provided by the Browns. In addition, NFL FLAG provides additional resources including training for coaches along with concussion certification.
Who is eligible to play in the league?
Boys and girls Pre-K through 7th grade.
WHAT IS the practice sCHEDULE?
Practices begin mid-January. 1 hour practices will be held once per week for two weeks on Wednesdays or Sundays. When games begin, practices are 15 minutes before each game. Your Head Coach will provide days and times.
how do you handle conflicts with other winter sports?
We work closely with league managers outside our organization to minimize scheduling issues. This approach has been successful in the past, allowing players to enjoy both sports without any overlap.
Where are practices and games?
North Olmsted Rec Center Field House at 26000 Lorain Road in North Olmsted.
How are divisions created?
Divisions are divided into grade groups based on the school year. Grade groups include (please note: divisions may be adjusted based on registration numbers):
- Rookie Division – Pre-K & Kindergarten
- 1/2 Division – 1st & 2nd Grades
- 3/4 Division – 3rd & 4th Grades
- 5/6/7 Division – 5th, 6th & 7th Grades
How are the coaches selected?
All coaching candidates are vetted and selected by League Managers. We assign a Head Coach for each team and all others are assigned as assistant coaches. Head Coaches can request assistant coaches to be assigned to their team.
How are teams created?
The League Managers assign players to teams to ensure fair play and balance. Coaches’ kids are assigned to their team and we honor siblings and cousins requests. Carpool requests are approved if a hardship is present.
HOW MANY KIDS ARE ON A TEAM?
Around 7-10 players to ensure an optimal player to coach ratio (and increase playing time).
